SCIENCE & HEALTH

Science is one of my favorite subjects! I love seeing God reveal Himself and His glory through His marvelous creation! We've used several science curricula over the years. Here are my favorites:

Answers in Genesis: God's Design for Science series (1st-8th)

Apologia Young Explorer Elementary series (K-6th/7th)
Apologia (7th-12th)

BJU Press: Science (1st-12th)
BJU Press' 1st-6th program is one of Cathy Duffy's 101 Top Picks. Read her review here:

Simply Charlotte Mason Science Books (1st-6th)

Also, I LOVE the Let's Read and Find Out Science series! Although they're not a "curriculum," they are certainly enriching to any science program. Check them out:

Health
Exploring Creation with Anatomy & Physiology by Jeannie Fulbright
Did you know that Jeannie Fulbright's Exploring Creation with Anatomy & Physiology can be counted as a half credit for high school Health?! "A high school credit shall be granted in a course that a child completes 120 hours of study or work. Most high schools grant a half credit for health as it is usually a one semester course. The only thing missing from my textbook that would be found in a typical high school health text is information about drugs, alcohol and sex. Add that information as you feel led and you have a complete health course. Make sure your student has completed 60 hours of study/work to grant a half credit." Pretty cool, hun?
Total Health by Susan Boe
A designated "high school Health course" that comes highly recommended by Cathy Duffy is: Total Health by Susan Boe.

Cathy writes, "Up until recently, there was no comprehensive health textbook written specifically for Christian day schools and home schoolers. Now we have two texts, Talking About Life’s Changes for middle school and Choices for a Winning Lifestyle for high school. Both books are definitely written from a Christian perspective. Spiritual principles emphasizing our relationship with God play a major role throughout both books. In addition, both books are similarly divided into four large units on physical, mental, social, and spiritual health."
